Timothy Aka TemuAsyr Martin Bey, a native from Compton, CA is an established agro-ecologist, food system advisor and advocate. He now serves primarily as the President of ASYRS Bridge which focuses on creating equitable access to the agricultural industry at large, providing expertise on creating regenerative agricultural systems, and connecting BIPOC farmers with federal, state and private resources to develop thriving communities.
He has consulted on the development of multiple community gardens, urban farms & greens spaces in Los Angeles County. He was awarded a Certificate of Acknowledgement by the Mayor & Compton City Council for his service directing the Compton Community Garden, a space distributed food, resources, & information during the height of the 2020 pandemic. He also serves on the Compton Unified Response Effort team.
From this work, he was nominated to serve on the BIPOC Advisory Committee to the Equity Office of the CDFA. After building a strong rapport within the agricultural community, TemuAsyr received recognition as well as opportunities to be part of many additional impactful committees & orgs, such as:
